Why Go On a Skinny Juice Cleanse?

Each freshly pressed Skinnies are made to replace solid food and snacks and while you're doing your Skinny Cleanse, please AVOID alcoholic drinks, energy drinks, caffeinated beverages and nicotine. Q: My Skinnies arrived and the ice packs are melted. Is that bad?

A: NO! That’s totally fine and so is your juice. It’s only meant to stay frozen during transit.

 During the Cleanse

Q: Can I drink Diet Coke?

A: That’s a solid ‘No’. We don’t recommend it during a cleanse, and we actually don’t recommend it ever :-) Try to drink water with lemon or herbal or green tea instead.

Q: Can I bring my juice with me on an airplane?

A: Your juice can be checked with your baggage and MUST have two ice packs inside the cooler bag, but is not recommended if your juice will be out of the refrigerator for more than 8 hours.

Q: Can I sweeten my tea?

A: If you MUST just use a very small amount and ONLY use agave nectar, which is what we use in our cleanse – it’s all-natural and won’t spike your blood sugar like other sweeteners.

Q: Will I get light-headed if I’m not eating solid food?

A: On the contrary, one's mind becomes clearer and one's ability to solve problems enhances. This is because instead of large amounts of blood and nervous energies being sent to the digestive organs to break down a meal, that extra blood, oxygen, and energy is sent and utilized by the brain.

Q: How long can my juices last?

A: You should consume your juice within 24 hours to 36 hours after you receive it. It's super fresh, completely raw and never heated. 

Q: I have a work meeting that I can’t be drinking a juice at, if I eat a light salad, will it totally mess it up?

A: This is not the end of the world, and you’ll be just fine. Try to stick to the foods listed on our Cheat Sheet before you go all out. Our best recommendation is to schedule your cleanse when your schedule is least complicated.

Q: I can’t get the Green Juice down; I’ve tried everything... is it okay if I just skip them? Is it enough calories?

A: Skip the Green Juice? No way, it’s delicious and the workhorse of the Skinnies. Power through it; it’s got all the good stuff. Good stuff means: vitamins, minerals, nutrients, anti-oxidants, flavanoids, enzymes and more. You could try adding some fresh squeezed lemon juice or having the juice over ice, that may help.

Q: We haven’t gone to the bathroom at all, and we’re on day two. Is that normal? Is this safe?

A: This and the opposite are completely normal side effects of the Skinnies and one of the reasons to schedule a colonic. Reduced input means reduced output.

Q: Is it OK to exercise while cleansing?

A: Absolutely!! Can we please finally put to rest the myth that if you don’t eat a lot, you’ll lack energy? Unless one is undergoing a water fast, which, should only be done with a coach, energy levels will skyrocket! You will be amazed to see that the more you allow your digestive tract to rest, the more your energy gets a boost. The energy that is usually spent on digestion is now yours for the taking, so grab it and go for a jog! Remember- you are feeding your cells, not stuffing your belly.

Q: What are Detox symptoms? Will I get them?

A: During a cleanse, the body is essentially tearing down all of the "bad stuff" and rebuilding with new material. To make room for that new material, the "bad stuff" needs to leave; how it makes its exit is your potential crisis. For example: when the body eliminates coffee, symptoms usually include headaches, nervousness, and shakiness. When protein, meats, and fats are eliminated, you may experience skin eruptions, foul body odor, or a coated tongue.

Lucky for you, we keep Healing Crises to a minimum; Skinnies is specifically designed to your type allowing for gradual elimination.

Q: Will I get light-headed if I’m not eating solid food?

Q: I can’t eat anything at all? Is it enough calories?

A: It should be perfect for the duration of your cleanse. Even though it’s a calorically restrictive regimen, you are eliminating the energy required for digestion. This is a real boost to energy for other metabolic processes.

Q: Can I do TSJ and eat food too?

A: The benefits of a cleanse will be lost if you eat solid food in addition to the juices. The idea of a cleanse is to only consume the juice so that your digestive system has time to rest. However, if you want to supplement your current diet with cold pressed juice it’s great for digestion and packed with vitamins and minerals.

Q: What do I eat when I’m done with my cleanse?

A: There are two points here: The first one regards prep work. Before any cleanse, you should lighten up – gradually. If you eat everything, e.g. meat, cheese, candy, alcohol, etc, you should slowly eliminate those a few days before and incorporate lighter fare which might include: steamed veggies, wine or sake instead of hard liquor (although, for your education, you should eliminate all alcohol a few days before and focus on hydrating), fish instead of steak and baked instead of fried. You get the idea. The same general rule also applies to the post-cleanse menu. You need to stay away from dense, processed foods. This is where the “common sense” comes into play.  Q: How often should I do a cleanse?

A: A good rule of thumb is whenever you experience any of the following: fatigue/general lack of energy, sleeplessness, anxiety/depression, digestive problems, at the first sign of a cold and of course, before and after holidays or any special events that lead to overindulging. We recommend doing a cleanse once a month for at least three days. This allows your body the proper rest and recovery time it needs to maintain optimum health. Make it a healthy habit - the immune system loves a consistent schedule.

Q: Why is juice so expensive?

A: Not all juice is created equal. When you consider what you’re consuming everyday during Skinnies, approximately 20 lbs. of freshly pressed fruits and vegetables, and the process involved, it's actually quite inexpensive!

 

Health and Wellness

Q: Why does this juice look different from my last order?  

A: Our juices are handcrafted, so at times variations may occur, such as:

Settling or Separation: Skinnies have no additives, and only additives can prevent the natural settling process. Before drinking, be sure to give your juice a good shake!

Seeing White Specs: Juices that contain ginger may have white specks in the bottom of the juice bottle but don’t worry! These white specks are ginger sediment, which naturally settle to the bottom of the bottle.

Color Variation: The Pineapple Apple juice may vary in color, from gold to yellow-green to pink to brown. Depending on the harvest and growing season, apples have varying amounts of polyphenols, antioxidants, and enzymes which, in turn, can cause differences in the coloration of the juice. Because The Skinny Juicery uses the freshest ingredients available to us at all times of the year, the juice can vary in color each time you purchase it. 

Q: Can I smoke on the cleanse?

A: I think you already know the answer to this, you may do as you wish but we suggest you skip your nicotine habit while on a cleanse.

Q: Can I do this if I am pregnant or nursing?

A: As a supplement to your current diet, yes totally. Alone

 or as meal replacement? No. Your body actually needs to add a LOT more calories than you normally consume while nursing. The body is looking for all the calories it can find so your child can grow, etc.

 The problem with any type of cleanse while pregnant or nursing is that you release a substantial amount of toxins back into your system, which is what your baby relies on for nourishment. That said, adding raw fresh juice to your regular diet while nursing and/or pregnant will provide you the added nourishment your needs during that time.

 

Q: Can I cleanse while taking antibiotics?

A: Skinnies is actually the perfect partner for your antibiotics. While antibiotics fight off harmful bacteria they also deplete the body’s supply of healthy bacteria. Skinnies are packed with nutrients that support a healthy immune system. An extended cleanse will even help strengthen your immune system to prevent illness in the future. We wish you a speedy recovery.

Q: Won’t this slow my metabolism?

A: If your metabolism is fast right now, chances are it will slow a little as you are not taking in as much energy. This also depends on your body - everyone is different. On the other hand, if you have a slow metabolism, clearing out toxins opens up channels so your body functions more efficiently.

Q: Can I do TSJ if I have diabetes?

A.There are many types of diabetes. Usually, regardless of the type, the answer to this is no because of the amount of sugar in the fruit juice, but you should always check with your doctor first.

Q: Can I do TSJ if I am lactose intolerant?

A: YES!!! There are absolutely NO animal products in our juice.

Q: I have a gluten allergy, can I do it?

A: Absolutely! We are gluten free. In fact there is nothing added to our juice but juice! Absolutely NO additives and 100% vegan.

Q: Shouldn’t I have fiber? Should I take fiber supplements?

A: Normally, fiber is great for moving things through your system, but when the body must separate out juice from fiber, there is an energy expenditure there that is significant. For our purposes, we want to reduce this burden as much as possible so that we can give the body and digestive tract a break from having to break down solid food – so that the saved energy can be transferred to cleansing processes. When you save energy in one department you can expend it somewhere else.

Q: Should I continue to take my multi-vitamins? What about B-12?

A: If your vitamins are food-based, then maybe. You are consuming about 20 lbs of freshly pressed fruits and vegetables every day, which means that that is now essentially your “multi-vitamin.”

The only vitamin that you might want to add is B-12. There is much debate over whether or not vegetarians get enough B-12 on a plant based diet. If you do not want to take a supplement just add some sea vegetables or blue-green algae.

Q: Can I do this if I am on blood thinners?

A: The answer to this question is almost always no because of the amount of greens in our juice, but as always, check with your doctor before you start any program.

Q: How much weight will I lose?

A: Remember, this is a nutritional cleanse designed to give your digestive system a rest and therefore allow your body to eliminate toxins. If you do lose weight, and that was something you were looking for while cleansing, then that’s just a happy side effect. 

Q: Will I gain all the weight back?

A: Hopefully, if weight control is your goal, Skinnies will put you on a path towards healthier habits. Many people report being able to focus more on what they are putting into their body after a cleanse.  Make this your goal in preparing for your cleanse, and ask yourself, “What am I going to do when this cleanse is over?” It’s an opportunity to “reset.”

Q: What if I have Candida?

A: If you're looking to steer away from sugar, your best Skinnies are Greens, as it has the lowest sugar content of all the cleanses

Q: What are the benefits of the green juices vs. the fruit juices?

A: The main benefit of green juice is its alkalizing effect. Fruit juices are more astringent; essentially the fruit digs it up and the green moves it out. Think of how your eyes start to water and maybe your nose runs a little when you bite into a lemon – citrus is a wonderful natural expectorant.

What if I am pregnant or Breastfeeding?
Our Skinny cleanse programs are made for healthy people. However, there are certain individuals who should not do it. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should avoid restricting your diet as you need extra calories and nutrients. Ask your doctor if the vegetable Skinnies are right for you.

What if I have diabetes?
Please consult your doctor before starting a cleanse program or before enjoying our raw fresh organic unpasteurized vegetable and fruit Skinnies. Your doctor can best identify your particular needs and dietary limits.

How many calories are your Skinnies?
Our vegetable and fruit Skinnies are positively life changing and provide optimal nourishment. That being said, most our drinks vary from 50-200 calories per bottle.

Will I really be able to detox?
Our Skinnies are not designed to starve you. Our goal is to feed you through highly nutritious liquids. You will benefit the most with our Greens and Citrus and added boost from our Roots and HelloSkinnies (detox snacks).

Am I going to lose weight?
The answer varies. It depends how your body responds. Weight loss happens when done for at least three days of consuming just the vegetable and fruit Skinnies and hydrating with lots of water.

How does your juicer work?

We use cold pressed juicer. At The Skinny Juicery, all of our fresh produce are made using high quality juicers that results in nutritious, smooth tasting juices that are sealed and must be kept refrigerated for 24-36 hours. We do not use centrifugal juicers.

Are the juices fresh upon delivery?

Your Skinnies are delivered straight to your doorstep in a recyclable thermal bag with ice packs (for kits). We produce them every morning before they are delivered to you.

Can I drink other drinks aside from my Skinnies?
We suggest to refrain from drinking soda and alcoholic/caffeinated beverage to maximize the result of your cleanse.
